There are many tips out there on customizing and beauty treatments - please see the links page for links to those websites.
Here are a few that I've found helpful through the years.

STAINING!!! CAREFUL OF BLACK AND RED Clothing And DENIM!!! (TIghts especially!)

Please be careful with all black and red clothing - these are problem colors - I do the best I can to treat them - but, stains may still occur. If you plan to have your doll wear something for a very long period of time - it is always a good idea to check arms and legs periodically for staining. Be especially careful of stockings and tights!!!

How to remove stains on legs and arms

If stains do occur, don't fret - they do come out. It is alarming when it happens - but, your doll just needs a little spa time with pimple cream (many brands out there - I use Neutrogena and sunlight. You apply the acne cream to the stained area and leave your dolly in a window for a couple days. Re-apply the acne cream and put in the window again. Repeat this process until it is gone. I've also heard good things about the Magic Eraser.

    color treat clothes yourself

You can always treat your new Blythe clothes yourself by a good soak in a vinegar (a generous amount)/water solution and then a gentle handwashing. I suggest always asking before you purchase clothes whether they have gone to the trouble of pre-washing and/or treating the fabric.

    Trouble getting a sweater on

It can sometimes be difficult to get sweaters past your dolls fingers - what I suggest is putting a sock over the hand while putting on trouble sleeves.

    Trouble getting boots on?

Try coating the leg in baby powder - your doll's legs will slip right into boots! Another strong suggestion - some boots stain too - and some shoes even melt!!! I suggest always putting some white cotton stockings on your dolls when they are wearing dark shoes or boots.

be Careful with doll stands + when storing your dolls.

There seems to sometimes be a chemical reaction with plastics... Shoes melting... (most notably Rosebud's shoes). When storing or traveling with your dolls, be sure that the plastic of each doll is not touching. The plastic on their faces can actually melt from being stored next to another doll with the legs touching... Same problem with storing dollies. It seems that if the dolls are stored where one dolls face is touching another dolls body - a chemical reaction can occur and melt marks will appear on the face. EEK! I suggest wrapping each doll in a clean piece of cotton.
